Nepalese altar statue of the priest of the five Dhyani Buddhas, Vajrasattva. Made from bone coloured resin and measuring 200mm by 135mm, he carries the vajra (thunderbolt, male) in his right hand with palm upwards against his chest, and the ghanta (bell, female) in his left hand upon his left thigh symbolising tantric untity. The worship of Vajrasattva is always performed in secret and is not open to those who are not initiated into the mysteries of the Vajrayana.
